This is the dimly lit hallway where we previously stored our pots and pans.
It was both out of the way and convenient to access from the kitchen.
It was both out of the way and convenient to access from the kitchen.
| (stairs to basement prior to Project Basement) |
Until last week when the basement stairs
were haphazardly destroyed carefully disassembled
and then partially rebuilt (but that's another story).
The somewhat unexpected stairway project has led to
a complete re-do of the entire hallway (why not).
Which includes lovely new drywall (of course).
Which will take some messy time to perfect.
SO, without a home, the pots and pans
have been sitting in a corner on the kitchen floor
next to the Christmas tree (but that's another story).
Where they gradually accumulate a fine film of drywall dust
much like EVERYTHING ELSE in This Damn House.
I am pleased to report significant drywall progress thanks to Handy Husband.
I am also pleased to report that I am a single speck of drywall dust away from
COMPLETELY LOSING IT.
I'm pretty sure living with cookware piled on the floor is not good for me.
Mentally. Emotionally. Bacterially.
And so a mini-project was born.
I took the displaced hooks from the basement stairs (refer to photo 1)
and relocated them to an under-utilized section of cabinets.
A little bit of sanity derived from a cordless drill
and inexpensive already-on-hand hardware.
AND the best part?
Close the door and it just all disappears.
SWEET.
If only I could fit the rest of this godawful mess
into a kitchen cabinet and close the door.
Well then, I wouldn't have anything to write about...

Good job! I love this and I know you're thrilled your pots and pans are right there all handy! I have red pots and pans too!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Loved it so much I had to show it to the hubby.
ReplyDeleteNow I know where to go if I'm out of ramen.
ReplyDeleteWe're stocking up in case they run out. I can assure you, mid-renovation Ramen meals taste best when prepared in bright red cookware!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I can totally relate to the drywall dust, my friend. Totally relate.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and still room for ramen if you need it. That dust is just awful isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMy house isn't tiny, but I identify with your space issues because though there are many rooms in my house, they are all quite small.
Kathy
Thank you for your kind comments. The new pot rack is working out well. Pots remain dust-free and I can bring the old OCD back down a notch!
ReplyDeletePots and pans are not my friend! I cant seem to keep them in order. Thanks for this post and sharing it on my link party. :)
ReplyDeleteLove how you used this cupboard...it does seem like a better use of the space. I hear you on the drywall dust...yuck...but soon it will be so much better. Found your blog via A bowl full fo lemons link up. Have a great week, fondly, Roberta

ReplyDeleteIt is a daily battle with the drywall dust - sometimes I think I'm winning & sometimes (clearly) I am not.

ReplyDeleteB) That's a LOT of pans!
But great project, woman! I love it!
OK and after I made his read this hubby says:
ReplyDeleteC. Where do you now put all that ramen?
Ha! You put half in your belly and stack the other half nearby for easy access!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteLanded here from the bowl of Lemons. I share your drywall dust pain. It does go away...eventually. I love your idea...I wonder if I can get new guts for my pantry? Hmmm?
